  • “Changing from petrol to electric will help improve efficiencies and the golfer’s enjoyment with no engine noise. We are excited about the introduction of the RXV to the golf car fleet here at The Vines Resort and Country Club. Having a high volume of golfers through the Resort, it is important that we offer a comfortable and reliable golf car. I am impressed with the technology and the new braking system which will increase safety and help to minimize damage to the golf cars. The price of a golf car is one thing, but reliability, service and operating costs is where the E-Z-GO golf car wins. This will greatly improve our golfers experience.”

Golf Car World: Getting WA Greener

On a farm 50 kilometres South-East of Geraldton in Western Australia, the largest solar farm in Australia’s history is being constructed.

Greenough River Solar Farm is a renewable energy project being developed by joint venture partners Verve Energy and GE Energy Financial Services.

The project, which will be operational in late 2012, is set to displace approximately 20,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions; this is the equivalent of taking 4,000 cars off the road.

First Solar (Australia) was engaged with the mammoth task of providing the 150,000 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels – and in turn Golf Car World, State Dealer for E-Z-GO, Cushman and Bad Boy Buggies, were recruited to service the transportation needs of the project.

First Solars task entailed supplying its advanced thin film PV panels as well as engineering, procurement and construction services, in addition to operations and maintenance support once the solar farm is operational.

It was with that in mind that Golf Car World supplied five E-Z-GO vehicles to be used as personnel and tool transporters.

Gemma O’Reilly, First Solar office manager at the project, said that the E-Z-GO vehicles have already saved many hours of valuable time.

“These vehicles are used for transporting people and tools. The size of the vehicles allows for access to areas that would otherwise be difficult to manoeuvre in. Since this is the first project of its type in Australia, we were unsure of our needs. Jay Wilhelm from Golf Car World was very helpful on numerous occasions to meet our changing requirements.”

Through the use of the E-Z-GO vehicles supplied, First Solar have been able to install nearly 4,000 panels per day.

It is not the first time that Golf Car World have done their bit for the environment; Rottnest Island and Spotless Cleaning (the company that are contracted to keep the island’s facilities well maintained) use three solar-powered E-Z-GO shuttle vehicles to transport people. Click here for more
